*Chapter 25*

They had been in London for 4 days when David finally managed to get Urs to talk to him. He had taken him back to his place after a day in the office and was going to cook him dinner, ignoring his protests that he wasn’t hungry. They were in the kitchen, David in the middle of cooking, when Urs suddenly said “I can’t do it anymore, I can’t cope without her.” David looked up and said “I’m sorry Urs, I feel like this is all my fault, I don’t know what Jodie did, but I know that she was the reason that Auds left, not just you, but all of us, she is my sister and if I hadn’t brought her out with us none of this would have happened.” Urs shook his head and said “No, it wasn’t your fault and It wasn’t even all her fault.” David looked confused. “That night, the one where the four of us were going for dinner. Auds and I had had a small fight.” David nodded and said “I remember, I met her at the lift and she told me, we went downstairs together and when she saw you and Jodie together she stopped and I saw the look that passed between you both.” “Then you took her arm and walked her over to us and she said she had changed her mind and was going back to the room and then she walked away.” finished Urs. David nodded “So, we just went out as three of us, but once we reached the restaurant, I went away to phone Auds as I was worried about her, but she never answered, so I decided to go back to the hotel and find her.” Urs stared at him and said “I didn’t know that.” “Yeah, I went back to find her and we had a good talk about how Jodie seemed to be only interested in you and her and none of the other couples. That’s when I realised what she was doing. She had done the same thing a few years ago to this other couple. She flirted with the guy and made him and his girlfriend hate each other so much that they split up. Jodie went out with the guy for a few months then dumped him. He had been my best friend at the time and when I found out what she had done, I couldn’t face him and I never spoke to him again.” He looked at Urs who was looking shocked then said “I thought it was going to happen again with you, when you wouldn’t talk to me.”

Urs felt the tears start to fall and said “And I fell for it, Auds kept saying she didn’t think she could be trusted and I ignored her. She must have got me really drunk that night because I don’t remember a thing after you leaving and then I woke up the next day in bed with her and neither of us were wearing anything. I don’t know if we did anything or not, but I got my stuff and got myself out of there as quickly as possible. I couldn’t believe I had just thrown away everything me and Auds had for something I couldn’t even remember. I didn’t know where to go, I knew I couldn’t go to our room or any of you guys, so I went down to the bar. I must have fallen asleep as Seb and Carlos found me. Seb gave me his room key and told me to go have a shower, but I met you and Jodie coming out of the lift and I froze.” He brushed the tears aside and looked up at David who had gone really pale. “I’m sorry Dave, I know this must be hard for you to hear?” David shook his head and said “I know she’s my kid sister and I do love her, but she’s always had this mean streak in her. I don’t know where it came from, but mum and dad have given up on her so many times, that’s why they sent her to me, and now she’s torn you and Auds apart.” Urs looked up at his friends face, it was full of sadness and pain. He said “She didn’t tear us apart, I did that all by myself. It was me who told Auds. After I had showered in Seb’s room I went to our room and I told her everything, well everything I knew, which wasn’t much. She stayed really quiet, started crying, then started putting all her stuff into her bags. Just before she left she said “I can’t and won’t put up with anymore heartache, I love you so much, but its not worth all the pain anymore for the few days that we are happy.” then she walked off and I haven’t seen or heard from her since. I just curled up on the bed and cried for most of the day ignoring my phone and the knocks on the door.”

David grabbed a drink from the fridge and switched the cooker off, dinner having been forgotten about, and they went through and sat down. He picked up his phone and was dialling a number when Urs said “Who are you phoning?” “Mum, her and dad need to know that she’s done this again and then they can work on getting the truth out of her as to whether you actually did anything that night, at least that way you would know the truth and when you find Auds will be able to tell her properly.” Urs nodded and sat quietly while David spoke to his mum first then his dad, telling them everything Urs had just told him. He put down the phone and said “They’re furious with her, dad said he’s going to go out and find her right now and make her tell him what happened that night, he’ll phone me back when he finds out anything.” Urs nodded and said “Thanks David, What am I going to do without her? We’re only here for another couple of days then we have to go do our castle shows. I can’t go out and perform in front of all our fans feeling like this, I just don’t have the energy or the will to put on a good show for them. You saw me on our last few shows in America, I was terrible and I couldn’t make myself perform any better, I just didn’t have the energy.” David thought for a few minutes then said “Come on, I think we need to go talk to Simon. He might be able to help us find her.” Urs shook his head and said “I went to see him the night we landed here and he said he didn’t know where she was, just that she had looked worse than I did when she went to see him.” David said “I meant that he could give us the number of someone that could maybe track her. You’ve looked everywhere you could think of that she might be and no luck, so it might just take someone with more experience of finding people who don’t want to be found to find her for you.” Urs looked confused but nodded anyway and they got into David’s car and headed for Simon’s house.

They arrived at Simon’s house to find it in darkness, they knocked but he never answered. David looked at Urs and said “How about we go get something to eat and come back later?” Urs shook his head then seeing the look on David’s face said “If we must.” and they got back into the car and drove away. Just as they were turning the corner a car appeared and turned into Simon’s drive. Simon and Auds got out and emptied the car off all the shopping. Auds was going to cook Simon dinner as a thank you for letting her stay with him since she had come back. An hour and a half later they were sitting down enjoying the meal with a glass of wine when the doorbell rang. Simon told Auds to stay where she was and he went to answer it. “David, Urs” he said in surprise. “What are you two doing here?” David said “We’re sorry to bother you Simon, but Urs has just talked to me properly for the first time since Auds left him about what really happened and as he’s not had any luck finding her by himself, we thought that you might be able to give us the number of a guy that would be able to find her.” Simon thought about it for a few minutes then said “You know, I might actually have, come in for a minute while I look for it.” They walked into the house and followed Simon into his lounge and sat down. Simon walked over to the door which opened out into his kitchen and left it slightly ajar. Then he starts looking through drawers. He said “So, do you think you could tell me as well? I promise I won’t tell anyone, but I may be able to come up with an idea as to where she might have gone.”

He looked up from where he was and looked at Urs who eventually nodded his head and started to tell him exactly what he’d told David. Simon had stopped looking and had sat down shocked at what he was hearing. Just as Urs finished David’s phone rang and he answered it. He talked for a few minutes and then said “Its mum, dad’s found Jodie and has managed to get her to admit that she set you up, she is going to tell you herself.” He looked at Simon and said “Do you have a speaker phone? That way we can all hear what she has to say, if you don’t mind that is?” Simon nodded and said “Yeah, I do and I don’t mind.” David told his mum what Simon’s number was and hung up. A couple of seconds later Simon’s house phone rang, he answered it and put it on speaker. Jodie’s voice could be heard speaking. “David, are you there? Who else is there?” “Yes, I’m here and so is Urs and Simon.” he replied “You have something to tell us?” Jodie could hear the difference in his voice from the way he normally spoke to her and said “I am so sorry Davie” “Its not me that you need to be saying sorry to.” he said. Jodie took a deep breath then said “Urs, I am so sorry for what I did, I saw you that first night I was there with you guys, you were standing alone and I went to speak to you. When Auds came over to say that she was leaving to go do some work I thought to myself that if you were mine I would never leave your side.” she stopped for a breath then carried on. “I decided then that Auds wasn’t good enough for you and that I was going to split the two of you up and make you mine instead.” Urs had gone really pale and David could feel him shaking. He put a hand on his shoulder to comfort him, but Urs pushed it away. Jodie then said “I started gathering information about the two of you, how you met, your history together, any weaknesses etc.. I even took your phone no. off Auds laptop, so that I could start sending you sexy messages, but I never had to do that as I got my chance that same night when David asked me to go to dinner with him and you two.” “Jodie, can you just tell us about what you did after all that, did you and Urs sleep together?” said David trying to keep his voice calm.

There was silence then David shouted “Jodie” and she let out a sigh and said “No, we didn’t do anything, I got him really drunk, managed to get him into my room then just waited for him to pass out. I stripped him and scattered his clothes around the room along with mine then got into bed with him and waited til he realised where he was and who with.” Urs let out a sob as he remembered the pain he had felt when he’d turned her over and saw who it was. He said quietly “I wanted to just die when I woke up and found myself in bed with you, I thought that I had wrecked what I had with Auds because of what I’d done.” he stopped then said “I went and told her, even though I didn’t know what had happened, I still told her and she walked out on me without even giving me a chance to try and explain and now I can’t find her.” he broke down into tears then unaware that Auds was sitting on the kitchen floor beside the open door in tears as well, having heard everything. “I really am sorry Urs, I felt bad afterwards when I saw how much her leaving affected you, but I couldn’t change it then.” said Jodie. Urs sniffed then said “Thank you for telling us what really happened, but I never want to see or hear from you ever again” and he hung up the phone. He sat down on the chair again and said “I really need to find Auds now, so I can tell her that nothing happened.” Simon moved towards the open door and could tell by the sobs he was hearing coming from the other side that Auds had heard everything too. He looked at Urs and said “Maybe you should go help yourself to a drink Urs, the kitchen is just through there.” he said pointing to the open door. Urs nodded and standing up said “Thanks Simon.” then headed through the door. David went to follow him, but Simon stopped him. He waited for him to realise that Auds was in there, but he came back with a glass of water 2 minutes later. Simon looked confused and he said “Excuse me for a minute.” then he went into the kitchen to find it empty. He sighed softly and went to find her. He went upstairs and knocked on her bedroom door then walked in. She was lying on the bed in tears and he sat down beside her and said “What are you doing up here? I know you heard everything, you know bad Urs feels and he’s really not coping without you at all, and then Jodie’s confession as well, he didn’t sleep with her, she just made it look like he did. You can’t hide away from him forever, he came here to ask me for a number of someone who could find you professionally as he’s had no luck by himself.” Auds looked up at him and wiped the tears away and said “Yeah, I heard everything, but I need time to think it all through, I meant what I said to him, its not worth all the heartache for the few days at a time that we are happy. I’ve heard both David and Carlos say at different times “What’s happened now” or “God, can you two not get through a week without falling out over something?” I do love him, I always will and I know that he loves me, but is it enough?” Simon nodded his head and said “Well, they’re still downstairs and if you want to come down, I know that he’ll be happy to see you.” He stood up and went back down to David and Urs.

They stayed at Simon’s for around an hour when they stood up to leave. They were standing at the front door just about to walk out it when all they heard was “Urs”
