CHAPTER SIXTY- SIX
David was bouncing with energy when he woke, sprang out of bed and raced to the railing to look out at the bay and beach below. He backed away immediately with his hands placed appropriately to cover his modesty, having discovered that there was a big difference in their privacy during day-light hours.
He went back a little more circumspectly with his trunks on and inspected the view. The tide was out and there was a wide sand bar stretching across from one side of the bay to the other, the river a mere trickle in the center now and easily waded across he saw as a couple of ladies with wicker shopping baskets waded ankle deep to the other side.
Janet had made an effort to rise but found that she ached, a lot, each movement was a reminder of just how …. Enthusiastic, they had been the night before.
David came back and laughed at her, gently flipped her over and took a bottle of oil from his bag, poured some in his large hands and began kneading the protesting muscles while she sighed at the warm, soothing massage.
“OH my…I had forgotten how good you are at this, Davey. I could stay right here forever if you promised a massage everyday.”
“You deserve it, Baby. Last night was incredible. If we didn’t make a baby after that….. how soon can we check?”
Janet laughed. “I don’t know…. A couple of weeks likely.”
“I want a boy first so he can take care of his little sister as they grow up. I loved being the older brother, made me feel like a hero every time I got to defend Camille. God, how I miss her. That was the only fight she ever had that I couldn’t be there for her.”
Janet felt a stab of sympathy for him, knowing how he had lost his beloved Camille to leukemia when she was only 12 and David, 15.
“You were a good brother, David. At least while she was here Camille knew how much you loved her.”
They were quiet for a few minutes as he worked on her long legs. He kissed her quickly on her round bottom before turning her over and working the muscles on the other side.
“So, my dear husband, what are we doing today? Other than Round Two of baby making?”
He laughed. “There’s a place called Chico’s Paradise, about a one hour ride through the jungle…. A good restaurant and a nature conservatory with a whole valley full of birds to look at and a nice little waterfall and pond to swim in.
“Ride? As in horses? You’re joking, right?”
He drew back and a look of dismay came over his face as he thought that maybe she wasn’t nearly as happy about riding off into the jungle as he had hoped.
“Ah, no, I wasn’t joking…. But we don’t have to, you know, we can cancel and do something else or just stay here…”
“David Miller!! You know how I love to ride and to see a natural preserve full of birds…Wow!! When do we go?” Jan had sat upright nearly knocking David off the bed in her excitement.
“You little…. You had me going there for a minute. I thought you hated the idea.”
Jan grinned at him and leapt from the bed, racing to the small bathroom then coming back out to the deck, still naked to turn on the shower and look coyly over her shoulder at him.
“Well are you going to be a dirty boy today or will you let Nurse Janet take care of you?”
David grinned. Nurse and Patient was one of his favorite games.
