| Disclaimer: this is a work of fiction and my imagination. I don’t mean to hurt or offend anyone. It is just a story. Please do not post on any other forum without my permission! LIEBESTRAUM A fan fiction by Birgit (bivalo) A piano concerto echoes through the empty building. The lonely pianist plays a melody full of melancholy and sorrow.
In the dark shadows of a pillar, hides a figure. Lost in thoughts he listens to the melody, his melody._________________ Thanks For My Siggie Tina |

Chapter 1: A meeting in the rain “I’m sorry, sir, but it seems like traffic is still stuck.” The taxi driver said. Carlos sighed. “I’d better walk then. I know someone who won’t be happy if I’m late.” He paid the driver, got out and started walking. After a few minutes it began to rain. Soon the little drops became a downpour. Carlos quickly ran to the porch of a café. He bumped into a young woman who obviously had the same idea. “Damn! Damn! Damn!” She slipped when she tried to stop and he reached out his hand to prevent her from falling. Hairpins flew around and her neatly pinned up black hair got loose. “I should have read the ’10 things to survive your first day’ better.” She said. She obviously felt terrible when she waved the magazine in her hand. “Tip no 4 is that you shouldn’t forget an umbrella.” “What’s no 1?” Carlos asked. He couldn’t tear his eyes away from her. Her big green eyes looked seriously at him. He felt like he was drowning. “Make sure you are early... And I’m so late! Do you know that the underground went dead without a reason an hour ago?” Carlos smiled. She was so beautiful. He was surprised about the way he reacted. He had met so many women during the years. And he knew quite a lot of tall, slender, blond ones. But there was something about this woman that made him weak. She was slim and just reached his shoulder. She looked vulnerable but he had learned that women were usually a lot stronger then they looked. “I think your boss will understand that you can’t help it that the underground went dead.” He said. She shook her head. “I wouldn’t count on it. He demands a lot from his staff and being late is on the top of his ‘things I hate’ list. At least that’s what they told me.” Just then, more people came to shelter. Hailstones were coming down and the woman was pressed up against him. “I have to go.” She mumbled. “You can’t go out in this weather.” He said in a friendly tone. She looked down and sighed. “Someone up there sure doesn’t like me today.” Carlos looked at her legs and saw the ladder in her pantyhose. “Tip no 5 is that you should always take an extra pair of pantyhose.” “Tell me… Why did you take the job if you heard those terrible stories about your boss that you obviously haven’t met yet?” he asked. “Money.” She said abruptly. “Lots of money. I would even work for the devil if he would pay me that kind of salary.” Carlos frowned. He didn’t understand how someone could take a job that they hated for the money. But then again, not everyone was as fortunate as he was. “I really have to go. Do you know of a store where I can buy panty hose?” she asked. He shook his head. “I’m sorry. Why don’t you call your boss to tell him you’re late?” “I don’t have the number.” She confessed. “It was in my phone but one way or the other I erased it. Don’t you dare to laugh!” she said when she saw the twinkle in his eyes. Just then a new wave of rain fell down and the people took a step back. The woman was pushed back against Carlos and he inhaled her perfume. It awoke something inside of him. This was ridiculous! How could he get so turned on on a Monday morning at 9h30? It was probably because he had been single too long. “Let me buy you a coffee.” He said. “You can ask the number in there. You’re late already, so 5 more minutes won’t hurt.” “I can’t. It’s really kind of you, but I really can’t.” she said, looking in his eyes. They looked at each other for a while and suddenly she took a step back. “It was nice to meet you.” She said. “I still have to find out how to get to the office. My sense of direction is really bad!” Carlos watched her walking away. He wanted to run after her, pull her in his arms and kiss her. What was wrong with him? He hadn’t felt like this in a very long time. He tried to ignore the dull feeling inside as he walked to his appointment. _________________ Thanks For My Siggie Tina

Chapter 2: Spanish temperament “Good morning, Simon!” David greeted him happily when he walked into the meeting room. “There is nothing good about it.” Simon mumbled. Urs raised an eyebrow. “What’s wrong?” “Well, the new secretary I hired didn’t show up and didn’t even have the decency to call. The interim agency told me she was so professional and one of their best employees. Apparently not! And where the hell is Marin?” Simon yelled. Seb swallowed. Someone was gonna be in trouble. “He’s… stuck in traffic. He called a few minutes ago.” “At least he called.” Simon looked around the room. “And why isn’t there any coffee?!” Urs quickly stood up. “I’ll get some.” 10 minutes later Simon had his coffee and was more relaxed. “Buenos Dias!” Carlos greeted them when he finally came in. “Mr. Marin. Glad you could join us.” Simon ironically said. “I got stuck in traffic.” He said. “Amigo’s. How are you all?” He hugged the others. “Sit down and be quiet. He’s in a really bad mood.” Seb whispered. “Right, gentlemen… Let’s talk business.” Simon looked at them. “Next week the UK tour starts. And I know I promised you a break this week, but I need you guys for one night.” “To do what?” David asked. “Next month the Meersman’s Children’s Cancer Charity Organisation organises an event. And they are looking for a musical act. Paul Meersman, the chairman, is an old friend of mine. I promised him you guys would come to dinner Friday night and sing a few songs for the organising committee. If they approve, you guys will perform at the event.” Simon smiled. “And where is that dinner?” Seb asked. “In Brussels.” Just then the intercom buzzed. “What?” Simon snapped. “Right, let her in. It looks like my secretary finally arrived.” The guys looked at each other. The poor girl would be in for a huge reprimand. “So, Friday… Dinner in Brussels?” David asked, trying to change the subject. Simon nodded. “Yes, I’ll let the new one book your flights and hotel rooms. So if it goes wrong…” There was a knock on the door. “Come in!” Simon said. When the door opened, Carlos couldn’t believe his eyes. There she was, the woman he met an hour ago. Her skirt was wrinkled, her dark hair was slightly damp and she looked defeated. “Miss Brown. So you decided to turn up after all.” Simon said coldly. She blushed. “I’m sorry, sir. I…” “I don’t want to hear it! I want you to book a flight and hotel rooms for Friday night. Ask Shirley for the details. You think you can handle a simple task like that?” Simon asked. “Yes, sir. Of course.” She looked at her feet. “Well, don’t stand there like that. Get to work!” He waved his hand. She turned around and headed for the door. “Oh… Miss Brown?” Simon said. She turned around again. “Yes, sir?” “Get cleaned up first.” He said and looked at her like she was some kind of dirty street kid. “Yes, sir.” She whispered and quietly left the room. “Did you really have to be so rude?” Carlos asked Simon. Simon looked at him. “Excuse me?” “There is no need to yell at the poor girl. The weather is terrible, the underground went dead and…” Carlos said. “Don’t start, Marin…” Simon interrupted him. “I have enough of you and your women! It’s about time you settled down and stopped chasing everything that wears a skirt!” “And it’s about time you learned some manners!” Carlos snapped. Urs put a hand on his arm. “Carlos, stop it.” “No! You can tell us what to do on stage, but my private life is private!” Carlos stood up and walked to the door. “And I’m taking your secretary out to lunch!” He slammed the door behind him. Simon looked around. “Anyone else who wants to say something?” The others shook their head. They didn’t dare look at each other or say another word. Simon stood up. “Thanks for coming. And make me proud on Friday.” He walked to the door and slammed it. David whistled. “Oh boy! That was…” “What got into Carlos?” Seb asked. Urs smiled. “A woman.” Carlos walked towards the secretary’s office. He saw the woman sitting behind her desk, looking through some papers. “Miss Brown, I would like to take you out for lunch.” He smiled. She looked up. “I’m sorry, sir. I really can’t…” “Carlos. And yes, you can. Simon agreed.” He said. “He did?” she asked surprised. “Si. I’ll pick you up at 12h.” Carlos winked and left the office. He met the others in a small coffee shop down the road. “So… Carlos… Who is she?” David asked when he sat down. Carlos smiled. “I don’t know. I met her this morning.” “The Latin Lover strikes again.” Urs chuckled. “Does this mean you’re not going to Madrid this week?” Seb asked. He shrugged. “I’ll leave tonight. Or tomorrow. We’ll see.” “Well, guys… I have to go. My flight leaves in 2 hours.” Urs said. “I’ll see you on Friday!” The others said goodbye. Seb was the next one to leave and was quickly followed by David. Carlos stayed in the café, counting the minutes till noon. _________________ Thanks For My Siggie Tina

Chapter 3: Lunch At 12h, Carlos walked back to the Sony offices. He stood in the doorway for a while, looking at the woman of his dreams. Her dark hair hung loosely on her shoulders and her green eyes were fixed on the computer screen. Suddenly she looked up and met his gaze. A small smile appeared on her lips. “Are you ready to go?” he asked. She nodded and stood up. “Are you sure Mr Cowell won’t mind? I didn’t exactly make a good impression this morning.” Carlos walked to her and took her hand. “If Mr Cowell gives you a hard time, I’ll put him straight. Don’t worry about it.” He gently put her hand in the crook of his arm and led her outside. He brought her to a small bistro across the park. When they sat down at a quiet table in the corner, Carlos smiled at her. “I still don’t know your first name.” She blushed. “Cydalia. Cyd for short.” “A special name for a special lady.” Carlos winked. They enjoyed lunch together. Carlos talked about his career and the travelling but he noticed that Cyd didn’t talk about her private life. He decided not to push her. If she wanted to tell him something, she would. Cyd looked at her watch. “Oh my God! Look at the time! I really have to get back!” “Don’t worry. Simon won’t say a word.” Carlos said. “Still… it is my first day and I didn’t make a good first impression. I really need this job, Carlos.” She said quietly. He stood up. “I’ll take you back then.” They walked out and decided to go through the park. After a couple of minutes it began to rain again. Carlos grabbed her arm and ran to a tree to get some shelter. While Cyd was running, she slipped on the wet leaves. She bumped into Carlos who steadied himself against the tree and caught her weight against his chest. “I’m sorry.” She said and looked up at him. “This is starting to get a habit.” He said and gently swept her hair out of her face. “A very nice habit.” When he stared in her eyes, his heart began to race. He leaned in but suddenly she took a step back. “I… really need to get back.” She didn’t look at him, but he had seen the desire in her eyes. She had felt it too. There was certainly attraction between them. “Let’s go then.” He said and took her arm. They said goodbye in front of the office. “Cyd, I would like to see you again.” Carlos said. She looked at her feet. “I don’t know if we should do this. Mr. Cowell…” Carlos lifted her chin. “Like I told Mr. Cowell this morning… My private life is private. How about dinner tonight?” “Tonight? Ehm… That’s a little short notice.” Just then her mobile rang. “Sorry, I have to take this.” Carlos smiled and politely took a step back. “Chris! Darling! … You’re back? … Oh, I missed you so much!” She smiled. Carlos just stood there. He tried not to listen, but he couldn’t ignore it. “Ok, I see you later. … I love you too!” “Was that your husband?” Carlos looked at her without smiling. “Sorry?” she asked confused. “Chris? Your husband?” He couldn’t hide the jealousy in his voice. She laughed. “No, that was my brother. Christopher. He just arrived from New Zealand.” “Thank God. I thought you were married.” Carlos sighed. Cyd looked at her feet. “I’m divorced.” “Divorced I can handle.” He said and took her hand. “So… I can take you out again? Soon?” She nodded. “I would like that.” “If you give me your number, I’ll call you.” Cyd took a piece of paper out of her purse and wrote down the number. When she handed it to him, he held her hand and kissed it softly. “I will call you soon.” She nodded. “Ok. Thank you for lunch.” “You’re welcome. Don’t let Simon get to you, ok?” “I’ll try. Thank you, Carlos.” He kissed her on the cheek. “Goodbye Cydalia.” “Bye Carlos.” She waved before she walked into the building. Carlos smiled. He had a good feeling about this woman. A very good feeling! Cyd stood in the elevator and closed her eyes. She should never have agreed to have lunch with him. She needed this job. And dating Carlos could be the end of it. She made a terrible impression that morning. And although Carlos told her not to worry about Simon, she did. If he fired her, she would be in so much trouble! How was she gonna pay off the mortgage on her house? And how was she gonna take care of Macy? Next time Carlos asked her out, she was gonna turn him down. Yes, he was attractive and charming, but he was dangerous for her future. She just couldn’t take the risk. _________________ Thanks For My Siggie Tina

Chapter 4: Meeting the Meersmans On Friday night the guys reunited in Brussels. They had enjoyed the time with family and friends and were looking forward to the next leg of the tour. Carlos had called Cyd during the week, but she was keeping him at arms length. But Carlos wouldn’t be Carlos if he didn’t have a plan. “Carlos? Are your ready?” Urs asked impatiently. “Si, si… Don’t rush me…” Carlos was looking in the mirror, trying to get his famous curl just right. “Perfecto!” he said and took a step back. “Amigos… I’m ready!” Seb and David chuckled when Urs rolled his eyes. “Let’s go then! The car is waiting.” Urs opened the door and walked out. Carlos saluted behind his back and made Seb and David roar with laughter. “Yes, Swissie!” “I heard that!” 15 minutes later the guys arrived at a large estate, not far from Brussels. David whistled. “Jeez! Will you look at the size of that house? It’s more like a castle!” They drove through a fence and towards the two floor high house by a large entrance way. “Apparently they are a really wealthy family. But they spend quite some money on charity.” Seb said. The guys got out of the car and looked around. The house was surrounded by water. They could see a large park and the scent of roses prickled their noses. A butler opened the door and brought them to one of the salons. “Mr Meersman will be here shortly.” “Thank you.” Urs nodded. They took in the large room. White leather couches stood in a circle in front of the open fire. Above it hung the painting of a family. “You think that’s the Meersman family?” David asked. “It sure is.” A voice said from behind him. A young man walked in a smiled at them. “Hello, I’m Peter Meersman.” They all shook hands and introduced themselves. Peter turned towards the painting. “You asked about the painting?” David nodded. “That’s my father and me, my stepmother and my stepsister Laura.” “Do you all live in this house?” Seb asked. Peter smiled. “Laura doesn’t. She has an apartment in the city.” “This is really a beautiful house.” Carlos said. “Thank you. It’s been in the family for generations now. So, gentlemen… Would you like to see where you are performing?” Peter asked. Urs nodded. “That would be great.” Peter brought them to a beautiful foyer. It was a round room, overlooking the gardens. At the front was a grand piano with a couple of chairs next to it for the strings. Chairs stood throughout the room for the audience. “Perfect!” Carlos exclaimed. “How many people will be here tonight?” David asked. “About 20. You guys, Laura and me and people from the organisation.” Peter answered. “And your father?” Seb asked. Peter smiled. “He and my stepmother are in Venice right now. They are celebrating her birthday.” Just then the bell rang. “The first guests are arriving. Let’s go back to the salon.” Peter suggested. “Can I use the bathroom for a minute?” Urs asked. “Of course. It’s the third door on your right.” Peter pointed out. _________________ Thanks For My Siggie Tina

| Chapter 5: The pianist When Urs came back from the bathroom, he heard soft music. He followed it and came to a large music room. A white grand piano stood in the middle of the room. A girl sat behind it and played. She didn’t notice him. She kept playing. Her hands danced over the piano keys and she was totally lost in the music. Urs sat down on a chair. He recognised the music. It was “Mondscheinsonate”, a piece of Beethoven. He was mesmerised by the music. It was like he was transported to another world. He could feel every emotion the girl put in it. When the music stopped, Urs stood up and applauded. Startled, the girl looked up. “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to scare you. I heard you play and… That was amazing!” Urs said while he walked up to her. She smiled and her eyes lit up. “Thank you.” “I’m Urs. Urs Bühler.” He said, extending his hand. “Laura Vanden Eynde.” He looked at the beautiful young woman. She was tall, very slender and had long brown hair. Her green eyes sparkled when she looked at him. “Are you a professional pianist?” he asked. She shook her head. “No. I’m trying to become one, but it’s not easy.” “I see you met my sister.” Peter said while he came to them. “You’re his sister?” Urs asked surprised. “Half sister.” Laura smiled. Peter put an arm around her shoulder. “Well, for me she is like a sister.” “She’s a very good pianist.” Urs said. “She sure is.” Peter nodded. “She’s participating in the Queen Elisabeth International Music Competition of Belgium.” “You are?” Urs asked surprised. Laura nodded. “Yes, my dearest brother enrolled me.” “He’s right. You are really good.” Urs said. Laura shrugged. “We’ll see.” “Urs?” Seb walked in. “Where did you run off to? Oh, I’m sorry. Good evening miss.” “Seb, meet my sister Laura. Laura, this is Sebastien Izambard.” Peter said. Seb kissed her hand. “Enchanté.” “Enchanté monsieur.” She smiled. “So, you’re a pianist?” He said, pointing at the piano. “I guess. I’m not a professional.” Laura said. “Yet.” Peter added. “She will be after she wins the Competition.” Laura poked him in the ribs. “I’m never gonna win!” “You don’t know that!” “Are your parents musicians?” Urs asked. She nodded. “My father was. And he participated in the competition as well. He came third.” “We have to go to our guests. Mrs. Geeraerts asked about you, Laura.” Peter smiled. “Let’s go then. I’ll see you gentlemen later.” Laura said. Peter and Laura walked out with Seb and Urs behind them. Seb saw the look in Urs’ eyes and smiled. It was about time he was interested in a woman again. They all knew Urs had gone through a terrible break up. His ex, Emma, had used him to build up her own acting career. Urs had invested heaps of money in her. When she met a big Hollywood producer, she slept with him and dumped Urs like he was garbage. He had been devastated for months and avoided women as much as he could. Seb was happy to see him smile again. Maybe Laura was the one who could get him out of his isolation. | Chapter 6: Dinner The guys were introduced to several people of the charity organisation. Urs looked around the room and saw Laura sitting with an older lady. They talked quietly together and he could clearly see the affection between the two of them. After they finished their drinks, Peter brought them to the foyer. The guys stood in front of the room and prepared themselves while the guests sat down. David nodded at Peter. He walked to the front of the room and looked at the audience. “Ladies and gentlemen. I am honoured to have these men here tonight. They are one of the most talented bands in the world. May I have your attention for ‘Il Divo’.” The guys sang ‘Regresa Mi’ followed by ‘Passera’ and ‘Nella Fantasia’. Urs caught Laura looking at him and winked. She blushed and looked at her hands. When the guys finished performing, the whole room erupted in applause. Peter shook their hands and thanked them. “I guess we found our musical act.” “Really?” David asked. “Didn’t you hear the applause?” Peter teased. “Believe me, some of these people are quite old fashioned. If you get them to applaud like this…” Carlos laughed. “Well, Simon will be happy then.” The butler showed the company to the dining room. A huge crystal chandelier hung above the large table. The table was decorated with red and white roses and beautiful china. Peter sat on one end of the table and Mrs. Geeraerts at the other. She was the oldest lady of the company. She had just turned 92, but was still very dynamic. Her legs wouldn’t cooperate anymore so she was in a wheelchair, but she had the charisma of a queen. Very proud and beautifully dressed with expensive jewellery as a final touch. Urs was seated at her right hand side and listened to her stories from the past. Her memory was still very vivid. She told Urs that she regretted not having children but that she always thought of Laura as her granddaughter. “She’s such a sweetheart.” Mrs. Geeraerts said. Urs nodded. “And beautiful too.” “I got to know her when her mother married Paul. She was a teenager but always so polite and friendly. I hope she finds a good man someday, Mr. Bühler. Someone like you maybe.” The older woman patted his hand. Urs looked surprised at her. “Me?” “You two would make a beautiful couple.” She smiled. “And I think you are a good man. I can see that you’ve been hurt, but I’m sure Laura can make you forget about the past.” Urs glanced at Laura. He saw her talking to an older gentleman and laughing at one of David’s jokes. When she met his gaze, she smiled sweetly. His heartbeat immediately increased. Maybe the old lady was right. He should try to get to know her. After dessert, the guests went back to the foyer for coffee. “Why don’t you play something for us, Laura?” Annie Geeraerts asked. Laura smiled. “What would you like to hear, Nonna?” “I think you know, child.” Laura nodded and walked to the piano. She sat down and looked at the keys. When she began to play, the room got completely silent. Everyone watched her, nobody moved. Urs looked at her. She was truly amazing. “She’s good.” Carlos whispered. Urs nodded, fascinated by her music. He recognised ‘Liebestraum’. The melody got to him and he had to take a deep breath to prevent his tears from falling. When the music stopped, it was silent for a moment. But then they all applauded. Mrs. Geeraerts extended her hand and when Laura took it, she whispered “Thank you. Thank you so much.” Urs saw how Laura kissed the old lady’s cheek. Mrs. Geeraerts smiled at Urs. “It was my husband’s favourite.” “It’s a beautiful music piece.” Urs agreed. After the guests had left, it was just the guys, Peter and Laura who stayed behind. “You guys are really amazing.” Laura smiled. “You have to forgive me that I never heard of you. I’m not into popular music.” “So… who do you think has the best voice?” Carlos asked. “Can I pass that question? You all have amazing voices.” Laura said. David winked. “Tactful.” “So, Laura, when does the competition start?” Urs asked. “Next week is the first round.” Laura said. “How does it work?” David wanted to know. Laura smiled. “During the first round we play 3 pieces. 2 that the jury choose and one that we do. And at the end of the week they announce the semi finalists. Those 24 give a concert during the next week. And at the end of that week they choose the finalists. Those 12 people go into isolation for a week. They live together and have to prepare the pieces for the finals. After that week the finals start and on Saturday they announce the winner.” “Sounds complicated.” Urs said. “What are you going to play next week?” “Bach, Rachmaninov and Shubert.” She said. “Wow! That’s heavy stuff!” David exclaimed. Laura shrugged. “I’ve been practising for a long time.” “You’re an amazing pianist, Laura.” Seb said. “Thanks.” She blushed. “Did you study here in Belgium?” She nodded. “Yes, at the conservatory in Brussels. And the last 5 years I followed courses in Vienna, Salzburg and Berlin.” “My friends… I hate to break up the party, but it’s getting late and…” Carlos said. David nodded. “Yeah, you’re right. Laura, Peter, thank you for an incredible evening.” “No, it’s you guys we have to thank.” Peter said. “I’m looking forward to see you at the charity event.” Urs shook Laura’s hand and looked her in the eyes. “Laura, I… I would like to keep in touch. Maybe we can go out sometime? We’re on tour for 2 weeks, but maybe afterwards…” “I would like that.” She nodded. “Great!” He handed her a card. “Give me a call. Let me know how the competition is going.” “I will. Bye, Urs.” “Goodbye.” He softly kissed her cheek and walked out with a huge grin on his face. David winked. “Well, Mr Bühler, it’s great to see you smiling again!” For those who don't know the song and want to hear it... http://nl.youtube.com/watch?v=ubVVSWHkxs8_________________ Thanks For My Siggie Tina |

Chapter 7: A dream job The next day the guys left for their UK tour. Carlos couldn’t wait to get back to London. Just 2 concerts and he could go and see Cyd. He had called her and she had been friendly but a little distant at the same time. On Monday morning a delivery man arrived at the BMG offices. “Miss Cydalia Brown?” Cyd looked up from her papers. “Yes? That’s me.” The man handed her a large box. “Here you go.” “Thank you.” When she opened the box, she found a dozen of white roses and a card. “I’m taking you out to dinner tomorrow. I’ll pick you up after work. Carlos.” Cyd shook her head. That Carlos! He sure wasn’t giving up. She sighed. Well ok… One more date and then she would tell him they couldn’t see each other anymore. “Brown! Get in here!” Simon yelled. Cyd rolled her eyes. Now what? “Yes, Mr Cowell?” “You better start packing your bags. You’re going to Newcastle on Saturday.” Simon said. “Newcastle? Why?” she asked surprised. “And after Newcastle, you’re going to Glasgow, Birmingham, Manchester, etc etc.” He continued. “What’s going on?” Cyd asked. Simon looked at her, his eyes blazing with fire. “Il Divo’s personal assistant just quit. And a certain Spaniard recommended you for the job. So you better do a hell of a job, Missy.” “I don’t want to.” Cyd said. Simon leaned back in his chair, his arms crossed. “Oh really? Well, you don’t have a choice. It’s that or no job at all.” “You’re firing me?” Cyd raised her eyebrows. Simon didn’t answer but by the look on his face she knew he would. “You know what, Mr. Cowell? I quit. Goodbye!” Cyd stormed out of his office, took her stuff and left the building. Simon smiled. Well, well… She had it in her after all. He took his phone and dialled a number. “Yeah, it’s me. … She quit. … You better think of a way to get her back or I’ll make you the new PA.” When Cyd came home she slammed the front door. Her brother sat on the floor, playing with Macy and looked up. “Wow! What’s wrong?” “I quit.” Cyd stated. “You did what?” Chris stood up and looked dumbfounded. “I quit.” She repeated. “Oh shit! What have I done?” Tears sprung in her eyes when she looked at her little girl. Chris gently led her to the couch. “Tell me what happened.” “Simon wants me to become Il Divo’s PA. Well, actually it was Carlos who suggested it. So that means I have to travel the world. But I can’t. I mean… Macy…” She shook her head. “You haven’t told them about her?” Chris asked. “No.” Cyd whispered. “Simon isn’t fond of children and Carlos… I just met him.” Chris sighed. “You’ve got 2 options. Tell them about Macy.” “Or…?” “Or look for another job.” Chris patted her knee. Cyd sighed. She loved her job. Yes, Simon was an absolute ass to work for sometimes, but the salary was worth it. What was she gonna do? _________________ Thanks For My Siggie Tina

Chapter 8: Dinner disaster “I love London!” Carlos exclaimed when they left the airport. David sniggered. “London or a certain secretary who lives here?” “You just wait till you meet a lovely lady. We’ll see how you behave then.” Carlos patted David’s back. Urs smiled at Seb and shook his head. When those two were at each other, they never knew were it was going to end. “Talking about lovely ladies… Have you heard anything from Laura, Urs?” David asked. Urs nodded. “Yes. She texted me that she’s playing tomorrow.” “I wonder how far she’s gonna get. She’s really good!” Seb said. “Ja. But so is the competition.” He shrugged. “But I think she will make the finals.” At 5h Cyd paced in front of the BMG offices. Carlos would pick her up there and she didn’t want him to find out she had quit. Not yet, anyway. “Buenos Dias. You’re finished early.” A voice behind her said. She turned around and looked into Carlos’ honey brown eyes. “Eh yes. Thanks for the flowers.” “You’re welcome.” He kissed her cheek. “Ready for dinner?” Cyd nodded. “Of course.” Carlos took her arm and they walked to a small Italian restaurant. When they were seated and looked at the menu, Carlos secretly glanced at the woman in front of him. She sure was beautiful. There was something about her that made him forget about the other women around him. He hardly knew her, but he was falling head over heels. After they had ordered, Carlos leaned back in his chair. “So… You’re gonna be our new PA.” “No, I’m not.” Cyd said. “Why not?” Carlos gently asked. “It’s really nice of you to recommend me for the job, but I don’t need your help. I don’t want another job. I’m perfectly happy with the one I have.” Cyd stated. Carlos smiled. “The one you had, you mean.” “I should have known. Simon couldn’t wait to tell you, could he?” She shook her head. “Why did you quit?” Carlos asked. “Because Simon gave me an ultimatum. The PA job or no job at all.” “He did what?” Carlos couldn’t believe his ears. “I should have known… El desgraciado!” She grinned. “Yes, well… Bastard or not, I screwed up on the first day, so he was just waiting to kick me out anyway.” “You speak Spanish?” She nodded. “Si. A little.” “That’s good. Another reason to take the PA job.” Carlos said. “No, I’m not taking it.” She shook her head. “And why not?” Cyd sighed. “Carlos, I told you. I don’t want another job. And I can’t go travelling around the world.” “You don’t have a passport? That’s no problem. We can get you one in no time.” He said. “I have a passport.” “What’s the problem then?” Carlos insisted. “I can’t stay away from home that long.” She looked at her hands. “Why not?” “I have… pets.” Carlos smiled. “You’re brother can take care of them.” “He’s not staying with me forever.” “One of your neighbours then?” “Look, Carlos… Thanks for everything, but I’m not taking the job and I don’t think we should see each other anymore.” Cyd stood up. “Goodbye.” “Que? Cyd! Wait!” Carlos yelled. While Cyd walked out, Carlos stood up. But when he walked away from the table, he heard a terrible noise. In stead of tucking his napkin in his trousers, he tucked in the table cloth. Plates, glasses, wine… Everything lay on the floor. Carlos cursed and when he saw the people looking at him, he wished the ground would open up. He apologised and paid, but by the time he made it outside, Cyd was nowhere to be seen. He tried her mobile but she didn’t answer. Now what? Carlos slowly walked back to the hotel. How the hell was he gonna tell Simon about this mess? _________________ Thanks For My Siggie Tina

Chapter 9: The day after “I can’t leave anything up to you, can I?” Simon shook his head at Carlos. He pressed a button on the intercom. “Shirley, I want you to call Miss Brown. I want to see her in an hour.” “You think she will come?” Carlos asked. “She’d better! Or you’ll pay for this, Marin!” Simon grumbled. “I can’t believe this! You sure made a mess!” “At least, I didn’t blackmail her!” Carlos snapped. “Marin, I’m warning you….” Simon looked angrily at the Spaniard. Carlos decided it was probably best to keep his mouth. For now… An hour later, Shirley led Cyd to Simon’s office. She was startled when she saw Carlos. He immediately stood up and kissed her on the cheek. “Please, listen to him.” Cyd sat down and looked at Simon. “Right, Miss Brown… I really need you to go with the guys. I have no one else and I must say that your work is excellent. We had a bad start the first day, but I’m sure we can forget about that.” He smiled at her. “I’ll pay all your expenses, hotel rooms, your flights… You name it.” Cyd sighed. “Mr Cowell… I really can’t…” “Carlos told me about your pets. I know an excellent pet hotel and I’ll even pay for it.” He interrupted her. “No, no… There’s no need.” She shook her head. “If I go with them… Would it be for now only? I mean… I love the job that I did before. I’m not much of a traveller. I don’t want to be a PA.” For a minute Simon stared at her. “Ok, if that is what you really want. We’ll give it a try and if you like it, you’ll let me know. If not, you’ll get your old job back. Deal?” Cyd nodded happily. “Thank you so much.” “So, Carlos… Take her out to lunch and afterwards to the concert hall. You can see how things go then.” Simon said. “But…” Cyd started. “No ‘buts’! Thanks, Simon. See you soon!” Carlos winked and took Cyd’s hand. There was an awkward silence when Cyd and Carlos walked to a nearby bistro. When they finally sat down, Carlos took her hand. “I’m sorry about last night. Can we start over?” Cyd looked in his eyes and saw the kindness. “Maybe I was out of line as well.” “Well… You have quite a temper.” Carlos winked. She smiled. “I know. You better get used to it if I’m going to be your PA.” “I like a challenge.” He said. During lunch they talked mostly about the tour and the other guys. But then Carlos just had to ask. “Why are you divorced?” Cyd took a deep breath. “I was only 23 when we got married. Way too young. And he got bored after a while and… Well, he turned to other women.” “I’m sorry. How long ago did you split up?” He asked. She smiled sadly. “We were married for 2 years. So… He left me 4 years ago.” “And hasn’t there been anyone else?” Carlos asked while taking her hand. “No. I dated a few times, but…” She sighed. “I don’t trust men anymore.” He nodded. “I understand. Cydalia… I really like you. And I would like to get to know you better. But I’m not going to force you. We’ll take it one day at the time. If that’s ok with you?” “There is so much you don’t know, Carlos.” Cyd softly said. He gently kissed her hand. “One day at the time, Cyd.” After lunch he took Cyd to the concert hall and introduced her to the other guys, the crew and the orchestra. She sat through sound check and that night she saw Il Divo in concert for the very first time. Cyd was speechless afterwards. She had never thought they were that good. The way they interacted with the audience and the reactions of the women… The guys sure knew how to swoon them. And Carlos… He was an absolute flirt. But every time his eyes searched hers again. And she had to admit that she was starting to like him more and more. “Did you like it?” Carlos asked when she came to his dressing room. “That was beautiful! Absolutely breathtaking.” She said, her eyes shimmering. “So are you.” Carlos said while he came closer. He softly tilted her chin and his lips brushed hers very lightly. “Carlos….” She whispered. “I know. One day at a time.” He gently hugged her. “Shall I drive you home?” “No, don’t worry about it. I’ll manage.” She stammered. “I insist.” He took her hand and led her outside to bring her home. In the meantime Urs was calling Laura. “How did it go?” he asked. “I think it went well. My coach said it was very good, so….” She shrugged. “I’ll keep my fingers crossed.” Urs said. “Thanks. Do you play an instrument?” she asked. Urs smiled. “Lately only piano and guitar. But I used to play violin.” Urs answered. “Violin? Did you study at a Conservatory?” Laura asked. He nodded smiling. “Yes, I did. But I haven’t played in years.” “I would love to hear you play someday.” She said. “Well… I think we can arrange that.” Urs laughed. “Great. I’m sorry, but I got to go now. It was nice talking to you.” Laura softly said. Urs nodded. “It sure was. Let me know if you made it to the semi finals.” “I will. Goodnight, Urs.” “Night, Laura.” Urs smiled when he hung up the phone. It was so great to talk to her. Petra had never been interested in what he did. All she cared about was money. But Laura… She was genuinely interested. And it was so nice to be Urs Bühler for once and not Urs from Il Divo. _________________ Thanks For My Siggie Tina

Chapter 10: On tour On Friday night Cyd said goodbye to Macy. It was hard for her to leave her little girl behind. She knew Chris would take good care of her and so would Jemma, their neighbour. But it was still hard. She knew she had to tell Carlos and the others, but she didn’t know how. Maybe she would have a chance to do it while they were on tour. Saturday morning the whole gang reunited at Heathrow and were off to Newcastle. Carlos sat next to Cyd on the plane. “I’m glad you decided to come.” He said while he took her hand. She shrugged. “Well, I didn’t have much choice, did I?” “Cyd… Most women would be thrilled to get a job like this. Travelling around the world, being with 4 handsome men…” he winked. “I’m not like most women, Carlos.” She said. He kissed her hand. “I know. That’s why I like you.” After they had landed, they went to their hotel. Cyd immediately realised that this job wasn’t easy. There were so many little things that needed to be sort out. By the time she sank down in a chair, the concert had started. She was backstage and could hear the guys sing. Yes, they were really good. She pulled out her mobile and called home. Macy was already in bed. Chris reassured her that everything was fine and that she had nothing to worry about. “Enjoy it, Sis!” were his last words. Cyd sighed. She did enjoy it, but the lying was getting to her. After the concert, Urs looked at his mobile. He had a message and couldn’t help smiling when he read it. “I made the semi finals! Laura.” He immediately replied. “Congratulations! I knew you could do it! I’ll call you tomorrow. Urs” “You look happy.” Seb said when he walked in. “Laura made the semi finals.” Urs smiled. “Laura eh?” he teased. Urs nodded. “She’s really nice.” “She sure is. I’m glad you’re moving on, Urs.” Seb said seriously. “Ja. I’ve been grieving long enough.” He said. Seb gently patted his back. “For someone who wasn’t worth it. Give Laura a chance.” “I will. You can count on that. Well… that is… if she wants to get to know me.” Urs laughed. “I’m sure she will, mon ami.” The UK tour went on. The guys had a great time performing. They did TV-shows and interviews and were still surprised to see how many people waited for them when they went in or came out. Carlos and Cyd’s relationship was growing as well. Cyd missed Macy like crazy. She called her everyday. Secretly, because she still hadn’t told anyone about her. One evening Cyd and Carlos were having dinner in his suite. Cyd knew it was now or never. She couldn’t keep Macy a secret any longer. “Do you like children, Carlos?” she asked casually. He nodded. “Si. But isn’t it a little soon to be talking about that?” Cyd smiled. “Yes, of course. It’s just that…” Carlos stood up and pulled her in his arms. “I am in love with you, Cydalia and I would love to have bambinas with you one day.” “Carlos….” She whispered. “I know it’s soon, but I can’t deny this feeling. You are the woman I have been waiting for.” “You hardly know me.” Cyd said, biting her lip. “I know what I feel and that’s enough.” With a breathtaking kiss he silenced her. When he finally released her, his eyes were dark. “Stay with me, Cydalia. Stay the night.” She couldn’t think straight anymore and nodded. Slowly they made their way over to the bedroom. Carlos was a gentle and passionate lover and all through the night he showed her what he was really feeling. 2 days later they were on the airport to go home. Home… Cyd smiled. She was finally gonna see Macy again. Carlos was going to Madrid and had asked her to go with him, but she had refused. She had fallen for him but she knew that she had to talk to him soon. They had agreed on having dinner in London on Friday night and Cyd was determined to finally tell him the truth. _________________ Thanks For My Siggie Tina

Chapter 11: Music Urs hugged his parents when he got home. “It’s so good to be back!” he said. “It’s good to have you back!” his mother smiled. “How was the tour?” “Great. Can we talk later, Mutti? There is something I need to do first.” He said. “Of course.” His mother nodded. Urs practically ran up the stairs. He dropped his suitcase on the floor of his room and opened the closet. He took out a violin case. A smile appeared on his lips when he opened it and took the violin out. His long fingers softly caressed the wood. Urs placed the violin under his chin and took a deep breath. He started to play and closed his eyes. The violin was a little out of tune but he kept playing. Downstairs his parents looked at each other. They couldn’t believe it. Urs was playing his violin again. He hadn’t played since he graduated. “He still got it.” His father said. His mother nodded with tears in her eyes. “Ja…” When Urs put his violin down, he felt different. Like a huge load fell of his shoulders. He missed playing. He should do it more often again. And maybe he and Laura could play together. When he came downstairs again, his mother smiled at him. “Who is she?” “Sorry?” he asked confused. “The girl that made you play again.” Urs smiled. “Laura. She’s a pianist.” “I’m glad you’re playing again. I missed hearing it.” His mother said. “I missed it to.” He admitted. “I know this may sound strange, but… I feel a lot better. It’s like my worries are gone.” “What are you worrying about?” she asked. Urs sighed. “As much as I like being on the road, I sometimes miss a home. A family, someone to come home to. I feel so lonely sometimes.” “What about Laura? Is she gonna give you a home and a family?” His mother looked intently at him. He shrugged. “I don’t know. We just met.” “But you like her?” Urs nodded. “Yes, I do. A lot. But it’s not going to be easy. She’s travelling a lot as well.” “I’m sure you can work it out if you want to.” The next morning Urs took his violin over to the music store. It needed to be tuned and he ordered new strings as well. When he went back home, he walked pass a jewellery store. His eyes fell on a golden pendant in the shape of a piano. He went in and bought it. Afterwards Urs went to the post office, put his gift in a box and sent it to Laura. The next morning, Peter came by Laura’s flat. “I have a package for you.” “You do?” she looked surprised. When she opened it, she found a small box in it and a note. “When I saw this, I just had to get it for you. I hope it brings you luck. You’re always on my mind. Urs” Laura opened the box and found the pendant. “Oh Urs…” She smiled and put it on. “Well… Someone seems to like you.” Peter winked. She blushed. “He’s really nice.” “He sure is.” Peter nodded. “Give him a chance.” She immediately called him. “Hello?” Her heart jumped when she heard his voice. “Hi Urs. It’s Laura.” “Laura! How are you?” “I’m fine. Thank you so much for the beautiful gift.” She smiled. “You’re welcome. You like it?” Her fingers touched the pendant. “I love it! I’m wearing it right now. But you shouldn’t have. It’s too much. I…” “Laura, consider it as a good luck charm.” He interrupted her. She smiled. “I’ll wear it tonight when I’m playing.” “You have to play tonight?” She nodded. “Yes.” “Are you nervous? Maybe I should let you practise.” Urs said. “No, it’s ok. If I don’t know it by now, I will never know it.” she laughed. “Good. You know what I did yesterday?” “No?” “I played my violin. It had been years.” “Really? I would love to hear you play sometime.” “I think that can be arranged. Laura, we start our European tour tomorrow. And I’m in Belgium on Friday. Can I take you out to dinner then?” “I would like that.” “Great. Can I pick you up somewhere? At 7h30?” Laura gave him her address. “I’m looking forward to it.” “Me too, Laura. And I’ll keep my fingers crossed for tonight.” “Thank you. Goodbye, Urs.” She softly said. “Bye Laura.” They both hang up, smiling. _________________ 100% Siren & Sébaholic

Chapter 12: Confessions Carlos parked his car, looked in the mirror and smiled. He came back early from Madrid and wanted to surprise Cyd. He got out of the car and looked at the small house. It was nice. Small, but cosy. He rang the bell and waited but there was no answer. He rang a second time, but nothing. She probably wasn’t home. Just when he wanted to go back to his car, he heard a noise. He looked at the side of the house. “You’re not the milkman.” A little girl said. “Or the mailman. Are you Santa Claus?” For a minute he was taken aback. “I’m afraid not.” He said. “I’m Carlos. Who are you?” “Macy Maria Brown. And this is my rabbit Donald. You want to hold him?” She wanted to hand Carlos a white rabbit. “Eh… No… Some other time.” He stammered. “Macy? Who are you talking too?” Cyd appeared from behind the house and froze at the spot. “Carlos!” When she saw his shocked expression, she turned pale. “This is my daughter, Macy.” She held her breath when she saw his dark eyes. “I know. We introduced ourselves.” He looked at the little girl like he couldn’t believe she was real. “Right. I better go then.” “Carlos!” Cyd tried to open the fence to go after him. “Carlos! Wait!” The roaring sound of his car was all that she heard. “So, I guess that was it.” She told Chris an hour later when he found her in tears. “One look at Macy and he just took of without even giving me a chance to explain.” “It must have been a shock to see a daughter he didn’t knew you had.” Chris said. “You should have seen his face! He looked at her like she was Frankenstein’s kid. He hates children. Now I certainly can’t work for them. What am I gonna do?” she sighed. The bell rang and Chris stood up to open the door. Macy climbed on a footstool and looked seriously at her mother. “Is Carlos nice?” “No, he’s an arrogant impatient irritating brute.” Cyd answered. “Thanks for the nice description. I’m sure you can think of a few other rotten qualities.” Carlos howled from the door. “Vicious, sneaky.” She added, but she had to admit he was damn sexy as well. “Come on, Macy. I’ll read you a story.” Chris took her hand and left the kitchen. Cyd swallowed. “What are you doing here? I thought you hated children?” “Where did you get that ridiculous idea?” Carlos leaned against the door with his arms crossed in front of his chest. “When we were having lunch, you said….” “That I wanted a quiet lunch with a lovely lady. Cyd, I love children. I don’t have much experience, but… Macy is very cute. Does she have your temperament?” he teased. “She’s calmer then I am.” She blushed. Carlos came closer and took her hands. “Why didn’t you tell me?” “I wanted to, but… I thought…” she sighed. “We had just met and… I know I made a mess!” “I guess Macy is the reason you don’t want to travel.” He said. She nodded. “Do you like travelling, Cydalia? Honest?” he asked seriously. “Yes, I do.” She softly said. “We’ll hire a nanny then.” He said. “What?” Cyd asked surprised. “We’ll hire a nanny.” He repeated. “I want you to come with us. You and your lovely daughter. I want to get to know her and spend time with the both of you.” Cyd shook her head. “Carlos, I…” “I’m in love with you, Cydalia.” He seriously said. “Oh Carlos…” she whispered. When he kissed her, the world stopped for a minute. It was just the two of them. Cyd stood in his arms and couldn’t think straight. She only felt his strong arms around her and his soft lips that told her that he really loved her. When he finally released her, he smiled at her. “I’m gonna call Simon, tell him that you will keep doing the PA job and that he needs to hire a nanny. And then I want to get to know Macy a little better.” Cyd smiled. “Thank you, Carlos. And I’m sorry…” He put a finger on her lips. “Don’t apologise. But promise me that you don’t keep secrets from me anymore.” She shook her head. “I won’t.” “How old is Macy?” Carlos asked. “She’s five.” “So your ex left you when she was only one?” He shook his head. “How can someone do that?” “Yes, well… Alex wanted children, but Macy was a bit of a cry baby in the beginning. And he couldn’t handle it. So....” she shrugged. “Idiot.” Carlos grumbled. He took her hand. “Come on. I want a proper introduction to your princess.” Cyd smiled when they walked to the living room. Maybe everything would work out in the end after all. _________________ 100% Siren & Sébaholic

Chapter 13: A dinner date At precisely 7h30, Urs rang the doorbell. Laura glanced in the mirror once last time and took a deep breath before she opened the door. “Goedenavond.” Urs smiled and kissed her on the cheek. “You look beautiful." “Avond. And thanks.” She smiled. “You’re wearing my gift.” His fingers softly touched the pendant and Laura closed her eyes when she felt his fingers brush her skin. “Of course. I love it. Thanks again.” She blushed. “Are you ready to go? I have a cab waiting for us.” Laura nodded and took her purse. “Let’s go.” Urs had booked a table in a small restaurant, not far from the Main Square. After they had ordered and had their drinks, he looked at the beautiful woman in front of him. “Did your father learn you how to play?” Urs asked. Laura nodded. “When I was little I was always around when he was playing. I just loved to hear the music and watch him play. When I was about 4, he started to teach me little melodies. I went to music school when I was 8, but I already played quite well. Music meant everything to me. It was my favourite subject at school. I didn’t care about maths or geography. But music…” Urs smiled. “So I guess you studied music in High school?” “Yes, I did. My parents knew that they couldn’t stop me, so... And my father was very proud when I got accepted. He never had that chance.” She smiled sadly. “But he never saw me graduating. When I was 14 he died in a car accident.” Urs took her hand and gently stroked it. She swallowed. “I couldn’t believe it. My father who never hurt anyone, was taken away so brutally. I buried myself in my music. I found comfort in it. It was all that mattered to me. And it was like my father was with me when I played.” “I’m sure he was.” Urs softly said. She nodded. “And then my mother met Paul Meersman. I immediately liked him. He was very kind and so was Peter. We moved into the mansion and my mother married him when I was 16. The first thing Paul did, was turning one of the salons into a music room.” “It’s a beautiful house.” Urs said. “Yes, it is. But I moved out when I went to the Conservatory. I wanted to live close to it.” she said. “So tomorrow you know if you made the finals?” Urs wanted to know. She sighed. “Yes. I think I did quite good, but… You never know. But enough about me. You must be bored by now!” she laughed. “No, Laura. I love to hear you talk.” Urs softly said. She blushed. “Tell me about yourself, Urs. What do you do when you’re not on tour?” And so he did. He told her about his hobbies and his family. The things he liked, the touring, the guys… And he noticed that she was actually interested. He couldn’t believe his luck. Laura was everything that Petra wasn’t. She was interested in who he was and what he did. It wasn’t important to her how much money he had or how famous he was. All she cared about was the real Urs. “Laura, are you going to the charity dinner?” he asked. She nodded. “Of course.” “I was thinking… Maybe we can go together. Will you be… my date?” he asked. “I would like that very much.” Her green eyes looked at him and he felt his heartbeat increasing. “Great!” he smiled happily. After dinner, Urs brought Laura home. “I had a great time.” He said, gently stroking her cheek. “Me too.” She smiled. He hesitated for a second, not sure to kiss her or not. But then he softly kissed her cheek. “Good night, Laura.” “Night, Urs.” She whispered. He watched her till she closed the door and smiled when he got back in the car. Could it be that he had found his true love? _________________ 100% Siren & Sébaholic

Chapter 14: Happiness On Saturday night the guys were performing in Holland. They had a great time. The audience was so enthusiastic and they guys couldn’t stop smiling on stage. Carlos was happy that Cyd would join him the next day. Simon had been furious about the whole situation but he had managed to calm him down in the end. And Urs… The guys had noticed that something was different, but they didn’t know what. They all thought it had something to do with Laura, but he avoided their questions. In the meantime in Belgium, the jury had made their choice. 24 semi finalists waited nervously in the green room. And then the 12 finalists were announced. “Patrizio Fierro, Isabel Engelbrekt, Michaela Schenk, Laura Vanden Eynde…” Laura couldn’t believe her ears. She made it! She actually made the finals! When she got to her room, she immediately called Urs. But it was his voicemail. “Hi Urs. It’s Laura. I just wanted to let you know that I made it to the finals. I can’t believe it! I’m so excited. I guess you’re performing or something… Well ehm… I’ll speak to you later. Bye.” Urs smiled when he listened to the message after the concert. It amazed him that he was so happy to hear her. “Good news, Buddy?” David asked. “Yes, it is. Laura made the finals.” He nodded. “Laura? I didn’t know you two were so close.” Carlos winked. “We’re just friends, Carlos.” Urs said. “Of course. For now.” Seb teased. “What’s that supposed to mean?” “We saw the way you looked at her. And she at you.” David said. “It’s obvious that you like her.” “I do, but…” Urs sighed. “It’s not gonna be easy.” “Amigo… Love conquers all.” Carlos winked. “Trust me!” “And you know all about that!” Urs laughed. The next day Cyd and Macy arrived in Germany. Carlos waited for them at the airport. He gently kissed Cyd. “I’m glad you’re here.” She smiled. “Me too.” Carlos kneeled in front on Macy. “Hello Macy. Remember me?” She firmly held on to her mother’s hand and nodded. “You’re Carlos.” “That’s right. And we are going to be travelling all around the world. That will be fun, no?” “You speak funny.” Macy stated. He heard Cyd chuckle and looked at her. “Wait till you meet Seb and Urs. They speak much funnier.” He took their luggage and walked them to the car. After 10 minutes they came to the hotel. Macy looked up in amazement. “Are we staying here, Mummy?” “Yes, Hunny. But just for tonight.” Cyd stroked her hair. The guys waited for them in the lobby. “Hi Cyd. Great to have you back.” David said. “Thanks David. Guys, I want you to meet my daughter Macy. Macy, that’s Seb, Urs and David.” Cyd pointed to the guys. “Bonjour Mademoiselle. How are you?” Seb said and extended his hand. For a moment Macy hesitated, but then she shook it. “Carlos was right. You do speak funny.” Seb looked at the Spaniard who pretended he was innocent. “Did he say that? Well Urs, why don’t you say something to the little lady?” Seb suggested. Urs smiled and kneeled in front of her. “Hello Macy. Did you like the flying?” She nodded. “It was fun. They gave me a colouring book!” “You like colouring?” Urs asked. “Yes.” And then she looked at David. “Are you a giant?” He laughed. “Well… Do you want me to be one?” Macy looked at her mother. “Is he the gentle giant?” “Yes, Hunny. David is really sweet.” Cyd smiled. “Then you can be a giant.” Macy concluded. David crouched in front of her. “Do you like playing videogames? I have a Playstation.” “Uncle Chris has one too! I like playing Dora the Explorer. Do you know that one?” she asked. “Not really, but why don’t you tell me about it? In the meantime your mother can go and unpack.” “David, you don’t have to…” Cyd began to protest. “I want to, Cyd.” He took Macy’s hand and walked to the elevator. She turned around and waved. “Bye Mummy.” “Bye Hunny!” Carlos put an arm around her shoulders. “You see? I told you everything would work out.” “You should have told us, Cyd. We all love children.” Urs said. She nodded. “I know that now.” “Come on. I’ll show you to your room. The nanny will be here soon.” Carlos said and led her upstairs. _________________ 100% Siren & Sébaholic
